Cloud & hybrid

The cloud, built around your business.

Public, private and hybrid cloud designed, migrated and managed by one local team. We take the complexity out of Microsoft 365 and Azure, keep your data in Australia, and make sure cloud costs stay predictable as you grow. Managed as part of your synfo IT plan, or delivered as a standalone migration or optimisation project.

The business case

Moving to the cloud is easy. Running it well isn't.

Cloud start-up costs are dramatically lower than buying hardware, and your team can work from anywhere. But once core operations depend on cloud services, new questions appear: where your data lives, how your systems talk to each other, and why the monthly bill keeps creeping up. We handle those questions so the cloud stays an advantage rather than a new source of risk.

Data sovereignty matters.

Australian organisations need to know where their data is stored and who can access it. We design with onshore regions and data centres by default, keeping you aligned with local privacy obligations and your clients' expectations.

Cloud costs creep.

Costs can rise quickly as dependency grows: extra licences, forgotten storage, services nobody uses anymore. We budget the cloud with you and review spend regularly, so you aren't paying vendors for things you don't need.

Services need to talk.

Making data more accessible in the cloud doesn't automatically make your applications work together. We plan how systems integrate, from identity to data flows, so information moves where it needs to without manual workarounds.

Our cloud services

Public, private or hybrid, managed as one.

We partner with leading public and private cloud platforms and bring them together with our own IT expertise, so your environment is secure, scalable, on budget and tailored to how your business actually operates, with seamless access to data from anywhere.

Microsoft 365

Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams deployed, secured and managed properly, with licensing matched to how each person actually works rather than a one-size-fits-all plan.

Microsoft Azure (public cloud)

Servers, applications and storage moved into Azure and run in Australian regions, with landing zones, networking and backup designed before the first workload goes in.

Private cloud

Dedicated, hosted infrastructure for workloads that need guaranteed performance, isolation or specific compliance controls, managed by the same team that looks after the rest of your IT.

Hybrid cloud

On-premises systems and cloud services working as one environment, with identity, networking and data flows planned so staff get the same experience wherever a workload happens to live.

Cloud backup & recovery

Microsoft 365 and server data backed up onshore with verified restores, so moving to the cloud never means handing over your only copy. More on backup & DR.

Security & access control

Conditional access, multi-factor authentication and least-privilege roles configured from day one, with clear visibility of who can reach which data and what happened if something goes wrong.

Cloud PCs & virtual desktops

A secure Windows desktop, from anywhere.

Cloud PCs put a full Windows desktop in Microsoft's cloud, so staff can work from any device, at home, offshore or on a contractor's laptop, while your applications and data stay inside an environment you control. Nothing sensitive needs to live on the local machine. We design, deploy and manage both of Microsoft's options, and help you choose the right one, or the right mix.

Simple, per-user

Windows 365

A dedicated Cloud PC for each user at a predictable monthly price, managed just like any other device in your fleet. The quickest way to give remote and offshore staff a secure, consistent desktop.

  • Fixed monthly cost per user, so budgeting is simple.
  • A dedicated, persistent Cloud PC for every person.
  • Managed in Intune alongside your laptops and phones.
  • Fast to provision for new starters, contractors and offshore staff.
  • Hosted in Australian Azure regions.
Flexible, scalable

Azure Virtual Desktop

Shared or dedicated virtual desktops and published apps running in Azure and billed on consumption. More to design up front, and more flexibility and cost control at scale.

  • Multi-session hosts, so several users share one virtual machine.
  • Publish individual applications, not just full desktops.
  • Pay for compute as it runs, and scale up or down on a schedule.
  • Suits larger teams, shift work and legacy line-of-business apps.
  • Runs inside your own Azure subscription, in Australian regions.

Whichever you choose, access is secured the same way: multi-factor authentication, conditional access, copy, paste and download controls, and no local admin rights. See how we delivered 40+ Windows 365 Cloud PCs for an offshore team in the MEDirect case study.

Cloud migration

Getting to the cloud without the disruption.

Whether you're moving off an ageing on-premises server, consolidating Microsoft 365 tenants or standing up Azure for the first time, we run cloud migrations as a proper project with a clear plan, a tested cutover and support on the other side. Available on its own, or as part of a managed IT plan.

Discovery & readiness

Every mailbox, file share, application and dependency is documented before anything moves, so the plan is built on what you actually run, not on assumptions.

Microsoft 365 tenant migrations

Moves from on-premises Exchange, Google Workspace or another Microsoft 365 tenant, including tenant-to-tenant moves after a merger, acquisition or rebrand.

Azure landing zones

Subscriptions, networking, identity, policy and cost controls set up to a documented standard first, so workloads land in an environment that is secure and governable from the start.

Email & SharePoint cutover

Content synchronised in the background ahead of time, with the final switch scheduled out of hours and staged by team where it helps, so staff arrive to a working environment.

Identity, SSO & conditional access

Single sign-on across your cloud apps, MFA for everyone, and conditional access policies that block risky sign-ins without getting in the way of legitimate work.

Hypercare & optimisation

Extra support in the days after go-live, then a review of licences, storage and consumption so the new environment is right-sized rather than simply lifted and shifted.

FAQ

Common questions on cloud & migration.

Do we have to move everything to the cloud?
No. Plenty of businesses are best served by a hybrid model, keeping some workloads on premises or in a private cloud while moving email, files and collaboration into Microsoft 365. We start with what you run today and recommend the mix that suits your applications, compliance obligations and budget, rather than pushing everything to one platform.
Should we use Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop?
It depends on how your team works. Windows 365 gives each person a dedicated Cloud PC at a fixed monthly price and is the simplest option for remote, offshore or contract staff. Azure Virtual Desktop lets multiple users share virtual machines, can publish individual apps and is billed on usage, which suits larger teams, shift work or legacy applications. Many businesses use a mix, and we'll recommend the right fit during discovery.
Where will our data be stored?
Wherever we design and host a workload, we default to Australian data centres and Australian cloud regions, so your data stays onshore. Data sovereignty is planned up front as part of the design, not checked after the fact, which matters for any business with privacy, industry or contractual obligations around where data lives.
How disruptive is a Microsoft 365 or Azure migration?
We plan migrations so most of the work happens in the background while your team keeps working. Mailboxes, files and SharePoint content are synchronised ahead of time, the final cutover is scheduled out of hours where possible, and every migration has a documented rollback path. The timeline depends on data volume and complexity, and we confirm it during discovery before anything moves.
Can you reduce what we spend on the cloud?
Often, yes. Cloud costs tend to grow quietly as licences, storage and services accumulate. We review licence assignments, consumption and unused resources, right-size what you actually need, and give you a clear view of spend so there are no surprises on the monthly bill.
Is this only available if we're a synfo managed IT client?
No. Cloud migrations and cloud optimisation are available as standalone, à la carte engagements for any Australian business. If you're on a synfo managed IT plan, ongoing management of your cloud environment is handled as part of that agreement.
