Why bother switching

Because the phone system on the wall is a liability.

On-premise PBX hardware ages, falls out of vendor support, and depends on one physical box in one office. A cloud-hosted system removes the hardware, the single point of failure, and the carrier lock-in that usually comes with it.

On-premise PBX hardware is a liability.

Ageing PBX boxes fall out of vendor support, parts get harder to source, and a single hardware fault can take every phone in the building down at once. A cloud platform removes the box entirely.

Hybrid teams need calls that follow people.

A desk-bound phone system doesn't suit a workforce that splits time between the office, home and client sites. Cloud telephony puts the same number and call handling on a desk phone, a laptop app or a mobile.

Carrier flexibility beats lock-in.

A cloud platform is not tied to a single carrier's hardware or contract terms. You keep the ability to change call plans or carriers over time without ripping out a phone system to do it.

What's included

A complete phone system, managed for you.

synfo designs the call flow, ports your numbers, configures the platform and stays on hand for changes afterwards. Available as a standalone service to any Australian business, on or off a managed IT agreement.

Hosted PBX & call routing

Your entire call handling logic hosted in the cloud: extensions, transfers, hold music and time-of-day routing configured to match how your business actually operates.

Auto-attendant & IVR menus

Professional "press 1 for sales" style menus that route callers to the right team or person without a receptionist manually transferring every call.

Call queues & hunt groups

Incoming calls distributed across a team in the order that suits you, with hold messaging and overflow handling so no call rings out unanswered.

Number porting & new DIDs

We manage porting your existing numbers from your current carrier, plus new local or 1300/1800 numbers where the business needs them.

Mobile & desktop apps

Staff make and receive business calls on their laptop or mobile using their business number, whether they're in the office, at home or on the road.

Call reporting & analytics

Call volumes, wait times and missed-call reporting so you can see where calls are being lost and staff calls, not just guess.

FAQ

Questions we get asked about cloud telephony.

Can we keep our existing phone numbers?
In almost every case, yes. We manage the number porting process with your existing carrier so your business keeps the numbers customers already know, with minimal disruption during the switch.
What happens to our calls if the internet goes down?
We configure automatic failover to mobile numbers or a backup voicemail greeting so calls are never met with silence. For businesses where phone uptime is critical, we also look at internet connectivity resilience alongside the phone system itself.
Is this the same as Microsoft Teams Calling?
No. This service is a standalone, carrier-agnostic cloud phone system. If your business already lives in Microsoft Teams and you want calling, meeting rooms and IVR built natively into that platform, see our Unified Communications service instead.
Do we need to buy new handsets?
Not necessarily. Many existing compatible handsets can be reused, most staff can use a softphone app on their computer or mobile instead of a desk phone, and new handsets are available where they make sense.
How is cloud telephony priced?
Typically a per-user monthly licence fee plus a call plan sized to how your business actually uses the phone, with no on-site PBX hardware to buy or maintain.
