Security Operations Centre

Threats don't wait for business hours. Neither do we.

A 24/7 Security Operations Centre watching over your environment: SIEM-driven monitoring across endpoint, identity, cloud and network telemetry, with human analysts triaging what matters and escalating it straight into your service desk queue. No dashboard nobody reads, no alert fatigue, just the right thing landing with the right person.

The business case

Why 24/7 monitoring stopped being optional.

Attackers don't clock off at 5pm, and the gap between initial compromise and real damage is often measured in hours, not days. Cyber insurers increasingly ask whether continuous monitoring is in place before they'll price a policy. Boards want more than a firewall and a hope; they want evidence someone is watching. A SOC is how that evidence gets produced, and it's a core control inside the ACSC Essential Eight framework we align clients to through our compliance & security auditing programme.

Ransomware moves fast once it lands.

The window between an attacker gaining a foothold and encrypting production systems keeps shrinking. Detection at 2am matters exactly as much as detection at 2pm, and a security stack with nobody watching it overnight is a stack that only half-works.

Alerts without triage are noise.

Modern security tools generate a constant stream of alerts. Most are benign. The value of a SOC isn't the alert, it's the analyst deciding which ones are real, correlating them against context, and telling you exactly what to do next.

Insurers and boards want proof, not promises.

"We have a firewall" is no longer an answer insurers or auditors accept. A documented, staffed monitoring capability with defined escalation paths is what gets written into policy renewals and board reports alike.

Inside the SOC

Millions of events in. A handful of calls out.

This is the view our analysts work from around the clock: every signal from your endpoints, identities, cloud and network in one place, triaged by a person, with only what genuinely needs you escalated into your service desk queue.

Illustrative view with example figures. Your monthly security report shows the real numbers for your environment.

What the SOC actually does

Monitoring, triage and escalation, done properly.

A SOC is only as good as the humans behind the dashboards. Here's what our analysts are doing on your behalf, around the clock.

24/7 monitoring & triage

Continuous coverage of the alerts your environment generates, reviewed by analysts who separate genuine risk from background noise, every hour of every day.

Cross-source correlation

Endpoint, identity, cloud and network telemetry pulled together so a login anomaly and a suspicious process on the same account get treated as one event, not two unrelated tickets.

Tiered escalation runbooks

Every alert type has a defined path: what gets auto-actioned, what gets escalated to the service desk, and what triggers an immediate call to your nominated contact. Severity decides the path, not whoever happens to be on shift.

Proactive threat hunting

Analysts don't just wait for tools to fire. Regular hunts look for the quiet indicators, unusual account behaviour, living-off-the-land techniques, that automated rules alone tend to miss.

Incident response coordination

When something is confirmed, the SOC coordinates containment with your service desk and, where needed, brings in specialist incident response support, so the response is organised from minute one, not improvised.

Paired with Managed SIEM

Our Managed SIEM add-on is the ingestion and analytics layer feeding this SOC: broader log sources, longer retention and sharper correlation, so analysts are working from a richer picture of your environment.

Frequently asked

Common questions about our SOC.

The questions we get most often from prospective clients and their boards.

What does a SOC actually do that a normal helpdesk doesn't?
A service desk responds to tickets people raise. A SOC watches telemetry that nobody raised a ticket about: sign-in anomalies, unusual process behaviour, suspicious outbound traffic, alerts from your endpoint and identity tools. It exists to catch the incident before a user notices something is wrong, triage it against context, and escalate it through the service desk with a recommended action rather than a raw alert.
Do we need to replace our existing security tools?
Usually not. Our SOC ingests telemetry from the tools already deployed in your environment, endpoint protection, identity provider, firewall and cloud platform logs, and correlates it centrally. Where there are genuine coverage gaps we'll recommend closing them, but the SOC is built to work with what you have first.
What happens after hours or on a public holiday?
Monitoring and triage continue around the clock. A genuine security event doesn't wait for business hours to fire, so analysts are watching, correlating and escalating overnight and on weekends and public holidays the same way they do at 10am on a Tuesday.
How does the SOC relate to Managed SIEM?
Managed SIEM is the ingestion, correlation and analytics layer: it's what collects and normalises logs from across your environment in real time. The SOC is the team of analysts who watch that layer, investigate what it surfaces, and decide what genuinely needs escalation. You can run Managed SIEM as an add-on to sharpen the data going into the SOC, but the two are designed to work together.
What can we expect in terms of response time?
Response targets are set out in your service agreement and scaled to the severity of the alert, a confirmed active threat is treated very differently to a low-confidence anomaly. We agree these thresholds with you up front so there's no ambiguity about what "urgent" means in your environment.
